Kimberly Valentino began her work in the Alameda Unified School District, first as a student teacher, and then briefly as a substitute teacher before she was hired at Earhart Elementary teaching special education. Throughout her career, she has gained experience in special education, lower elementary, and upper elementary, which has provided her with a well-rounded understanding of elementary education. Having a daughter with special needs has contributed immeasurably to her abilities as a student advocate and she works tirelessly to instill compassion and understanding in every one of her students.  She's overseen special programs promoting inclusivity and community building, such as Ability Awareness Week at Franklin and Otis Elementary, a program dedicate to educating students on their differently-abled peers.  Additionally, she was a leader in bringing positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) to Otis Elementary and supporting teachers in implementing Tier 1 supports to fidelity and brings a restorative practices mindset in her approach to supporting students. She is excited to continue growing as an educator and administrator by taking on the role of assistant principal at Haight Elementary. "I really appreciate how warm and welcoming everybody has been. This community is so filled with love and I am super excited to be a part of it!"
